Code of Conduct for Spectators

The NBNM Basketball League emphasizes the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play under all circumstances.  We stress the values to be derived from playing basketball fairly, and discourage any actions which tend to destroy those values.  Courtesy should be shown toward opponents, officials, directors, and other spectators; and the integrity and judgment of the sports officials must be respected.

The SPECTATORS are expected to:

  • Conform to accepted standards of good sportsmanship and behavior.
  • Respect officials, coaches and players and extend all courtesies to them.
  • Refrain from feet stomping and disrespectful or abusive remarks.
  • Be quiet when players need total concentration such as shooting foul shots.
  • Obey the building regulations (i.e. no food or drinks in gym).
  • Spectators are to remain in the gym and not congregate or roam throughout the school buildings.
  • Cheer positively for your team as well as the opponents.

Any individual violating any aspect of the Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the gym and may not be welcome to attend any further games.  Remember, the coaches are responsible for the actions of their spectators.  Furthermore, the League Directors will also monitor the games and take action when and if necessary.
